Having spent considerable time promoting this film in the months leading up to its air date, I feel I should review it.
Much like the original animated movie before it, it seems Ranma's first live action debut is not without fault. Like various other fans, my main criticisms stem from major rewrites and deviations from the source material and its portraying Nabiki more like Azusa Shiratori.
But despite those flaws, I still found the Ranma's first live action movie to be quite enjoyable. It offered us a fresh take on some of the early manga chapters, gave us a happy balance of the down-to-earth approach of Season 1 and the zaniness of the manga and later seasons, and most importantly opened the world of Ranma to a new generation of fans.
That being said, I give this movie a 4 out of 5.
